Dental care in the United States is delivered mostly by private practices: a general or family dentist who handles exams, cleanings, fillings and crowns, and refers out anything that needs a specialist. Group practices and dental clinics put several dentists, hygienists and sometimes specialists under one roof, often with evening and Saturday hours. Most offices ask new patients for a comprehensive exam with X-rays before routine cleanings, which the American Dental Association recommends every six months. Prices are set by each practice, and most accept dental insurance (PPO plans more widely than HMO ones), CareCredit-style financing or an in-house membership plan for people without coverage. Emergency dental services take same-day patients for toothaches, broken teeth and abscesses, usually at a premium.
Hours are published for 4 days a week. Typical hours are 8 amβ5 pm. It is closed on Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach A Tooth Fairy's Place at (956) 541-3624; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.

The dentist is nice. The office is so dark, it took me twice the time at least to complete the forms. The staff is most unhelpful and unprofessional at scheduling appointments - always say the next available is at least 3 months out. Even when the doctor says βI need to see you next week,β it wonβt happen because thereβs no appt! Also, they make no real effort to know your name because they call you βmami.β I got an appt for my kid in February for April when her cavity was bothering her. We got an appt for an βimmediateβ extraction the doctor wanted to perform after a round of 7-day antibiotics scheduled for July, THREE months later. I called 3 weeks prior to the day to ask if there was any availability earlier than July 2 because I got scheduled for a C-section on the 1. The office promised they understood and would make necessary adjustments and would call me back asap, etc. Call never came. July 1, they call to say the doctor had an emergency and would need to reschedule. When? She doesnβt know, theyβre working to accommodate because next available is in October. What about my earlier call? She has no idea who I spoke to, thereβs 3 of them up there (yes, all chattering away t

All three dentists are wonderful for everything related to teeth (except braces and retainers). The wonderful root canal I had done here was way cheaper than the specialist in Harlingen, Tx, about 20 minutes away. All of the staff members are kind, competent, and professional.

I was recommended by a friend decided to stop by. Upon entrance, Front desk lady seemed frustrated. I didnβt feel welcome. I Stopped by to inquire about an appointment. She Mentioned all appointments were booked for the month. I still scheduled for June. Will give it a try, maybe front desk Lady was having a bad day. π

Honestly, one of the kindest and most competent staff I have ever had the pleasure of seeing for my dental needs. My sister recommended them to me and I'm glad I listened. They explain everything well, are very patient (despite my plethora of questions), and have always done fanatic work. I'm going on almost 2 years, seeing them on an almost monthly basis for quite a number of root canals and it didn't hurt much at all compared to what I've heard online about the process. Thank you all!
